A Letter to My Loved Ones

To my loved ones and friends to those I love and those who loved me, when I am gone- release me and let me go. I have so many things to see and do, you must not tie yourselves to me in tears, be happy that we had this time, I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness, I thank you for that love you each have shown me, but it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve a short while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a little while that we must part, so bless the memories within your hearts, and know that I won't be very far away, so just remember-- life does go on. And if you need me- call and I will come, and though you can't see or touch me- I'll be there and near! And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all my love around you soft and clear, and when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say--

Welcome Home!!!

Comments: I just wanted to thank your son for his service to our country. I too have 2 cousins in the army, one who went 3 days after 9/11 as a sniper. I am very thankful that he made it back. My other cousin, his younger brother, is stationed right now in alabama and could possibly be shipped over to Iraq in the near future. Again I just wanted to say thank you to you and your son and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and all families who have to deal with such attrocities.

Comments: I wept like a child when I saw your tribute clip. What a splendid young man Bobby was. I'm an Australian married to an American girl living in the North East. We will NEVER forget the sacrifice the Marines and US Navy did in stopping the Japanese during WW2. In Australia , we have something called "The Ode". It's read at 6PM every evening in the Returned Servicemens League clubs (similar to your VFW) throughout the Country since WW1. The closing stanza, "at the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them". And we do with a passion. Thank you for allowing others the privilege of witnessing Bobby's interment.

Comments: I did not known Bobby, but the story of your son, man and father comes home with me. I know, what it means to loose a loved person, so I can only say I am so sorry. You can be proud of your son. I wish in my country would it be like in yours. But it is not the same although german soldiers are fallen for their country too. Maybe one day it would be similar.

I wish you all the best. God bless you.

Comments: hello, my name is moritz kowald, i'm 20years old and i am from germany. i know the pain you have been through and the pain you're still feeling, because my sister died when i was 11years old.

especially in germany the war in iraq is not popular at all. but don't give anything to that cause in my opinion your husband/son was a hero. he died while he was serving for his country and even for the world. and he gave his life so that other people can live the same life we love one day.

Comments: I stumbled upon a video on youtube about Bobby and was moved by it. As a fairly new Marine, it is an intimidating thought to see the shoes I have to fill from those who gave their lives.

But I promise you this: I will do my very best, and be the best Marine I can for Bobby, and all fallen Marines who have worn their EGA's with pride.

Sincerely,

PFC Thomas Wicklow

Comments: This video, I have posted on my myspace page. It tells a story of the reality of today's society and the sacrifice not made only by the men and women serving, but the sacrifice of the families and communities of the fallen marine. Thank you for sharing this with the world. It speaks volumes of you all as family but it shows the world that the people serving in countries overseas, are men and women like them. They have families, they have support from their communities and that the dedication these men and women have committed their lives to will never be forgotten. I watch this video weekly to remind me of the sacrifice your son and others like him have made to I may live my life the way I want.

THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH. The sacrifice of your son and your family and community will truly and ALWAYS be a reminder to me of how much I appreciate and respect families and the United States Military.
